Austin Pets Alive! is not your average animal shelter. They pioneer comprehensive, innovative programs designed to save the animals most at risk for euthanasia. The mission of APA! is To promote and provide the resources, education, and programs needed to eliminate the killing of companion animals. Through developing innovative programs for at-risk animals, APA! has helped Austin become — and maintain — its status as the largest no-kill city in the country.

The Trevor Project is an American non-profit organization founded in 1998 focused on suicide prevention efforts among LGBTQ youth. It operates The Trevor Lifeline, a confidential service that offers trained counselors. The stated goals of the project are to provide crisis intervention and suicide prevention services for LGBTQ youth (defined by the organization as people under 25), as well as to offer guidance and resources to parents and educators in order to foster safe, accepting, and inclusive environments for all youth, at home and at school.

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Travis County exists to promote and protect the best interest of children who have been abused or neglected, by training volunteers to advocate for them in courts, in schools, and in our community to help them find safe,permanent, and loving homes. CASA educates and empowers diverse community volunteers who ensure each child’s needs remain a priority in an overburdened child welfare system.

Central Texas Food Bank works with food donors across the country, financial supporters and volunteers to fill unmet needs in Central Texas. This commitment from private, government and charitable partners has allowed them to bring nearly 54 million meals to our community last year and into the hands of families and local nonprofits that turn to them for help. A leader in the fight against hunger for nearly 40 years, Central Texas Food Bank’s mission is to nourish hungry people and lead the community in the fight against hunger.

Blackland Logo
The mission of Blackland CDC is to foster a safe, sustainable, inclusive community that strives for social equality by preserving and enhancing the stock of affordable housing and providing supportive programs for Blackland residents. Blackland Community Development Corporation (BCDC) provides targeted affordable and supportive housing to low-income families, unaccompanied adults with disabilities, and senior citizens in a range of settings including single family homes, duplexes, and an apartment complex.
